FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. I'd love to stay in one of your properties! What do I do next?
  2. Send us an online inquiry with your name, travel dates and number of travelers. You can find this form on every rental property details page or on the CONTACT US section. The more information you give us about your travel preferences, we can recommend better options that will suite your needs.   3. How do I make a reservation? And what payments methods are accepted?
  4. Once we have found the right property for your stay, we will send over a rental agreement and payment methods for you to choose.  A 50% deposit of the total rental fee is required to ensure a reservation, payable by personal check, bank transfer or credit cards via PayPal. If you choose to pay via credit card, we charge the small processing fee associated with PayPal of 5%. 
    The remaining 50% should be paid in cash, the first working day after arrival at the Yucatan Vacations office in Progreso.

  5. Is there a damage deposit and when is it due?
  6. A security/damage deposit of $300 USD is also required. This deposit can be paid by personal cheque or in cash when you will come in the office to make your remaining payment. This deposit will be cashed solely for damages to the property.
    Any balance or the full amount, if there are no damages, will be wired back to you within 45 days of departure.

  7. Is there a cancellation policy?
  8. Yes! If you have to cancel your reservation, please contact our office immediately by e-mail. Eighty-five percent (85%) of the total reservation deposit will be refunded, if the proper written cancellation notice is received 46 days prior to the first day of the Rental Period. The guest cancelling his or her reservation, with less than 46 days remaining to the first day of the Rental Period, will forfeit any deposit amount paid towards the rent of this Property. Refunds outside of this policy are at our discretion.

  9. How do I know that there will actually be a house at the address when I arrive or that you can be trusted not to run off with my money?
  10. We have been in business for over 9 years and plan to keep doing so. We have created an extensive library of guest comments that demonstrate quality, reliability and customer service. We would happily provide a referral list of previous guests.

  11. How can I ensure the property is as advertised when I arrive?
  12. We try our best to keep the photos and amenities updated on our website. If anything has changed, it is usually for the better, like a new TV or a new bedspread or new towels. If you are not satisfied with the condition of the property, just give us a call and we'll try to make it right. We will be more than happy to fix or assist with any issue and make sure your vacation is a fantastic one. 

  13. Why should I rent through Yucatan Vacations?
  14. Many vacation rentals are operated by homeowners themselves. Their vacation rental is not their primary source of income. They have a full time job…. and a personal life. Not us! This is our full-time business and we want you to come back. We are available 24/7. There is always a number for you to call where you can speak to someone on our team. We will aid you in identifying the right property, make recommendations that would make your trip better, handle your reservation, and remain in contact with you after you depart. Our goal is to make sure your rental experience is the best it can be.

    THE RENTALS

  15. How do we get the keys for our vacation rental?
  16. Driving directions to the Property and instructions on how to obtain the key(s) will be provided in the Confirmation E-Mail. All our houses have caretakers, some live a few doors down, some on a back property, some in the premises. In most cases, they will expect you and hand you the keys to your Vacation Rental Home.
  17. What time is check in and check out?
  18. The check-In to the Property begins at 3:00 p.m. and check out is at 12:00 noon. Driving directions to the Property and instructions on how to obtain the key(s) will be provided in the Confirmation E-Mail.
  19. What do you stock your properties with?
  20. All our properties are fully furnished for normal housekeeping in “turn-key” condition. Kitchens are equipped with dishes, cookware, flatware, glasses, standard appliances. Not provided are cooking oils, etc., and related items that can spoil. Some locations also have spices, but these are not standard supply. An initial supply of paper towels and toilet tissue are provided as well. Should you use up that supply, you are asked to re-stock based on your personal needs. Properties will also have beach towels and beach chairs, some even charcoal grill.
  21. Are linens and towels provided?
  22. All of our properties provide fresh bed linens and towels, beach towels. For rentals over 1 week, owners will leave a full spare set of linen and towels for you to be able to switch at your convenience. Laundry service is not included in the rental fee.

  23. What does my rental fee include and are there any extras to consider?
  24. Properties offered by Yucatan Vacations are ready to move in. The idea is that as our guest you would simply have to carry your personal travel belongings. They each are equipped with different amenities (gas, electricity, city water, cistern water, etc.). 
    When applicable:

    • Gas:  The owner will provide one full tank of gas. Refills are paid by the guest.
    • Electricity: The Rental Fee includes consumption of up to 100 USD per month or 25 USD per week. If exceeded, the extra cost will be taken from the Security/Damage Deposit.
    • Water: One full water truck load will be provided for the cistern. Refills are paid by the guest.
